Quality Technician ET/Value Add Job Description Summary (Position Description): The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills with demonstrated success in areas associated with purchasing and supplier relationship management. This position with interact closely with customer service, scheduling, engineering, and multiple external suppliers to ensure correct materials are purchased and delivered on-time to meet customer requirements while ensuring a high level of quality and maximizing revenue. Reports To: Quality Systems Manager for Pressure Vessel and Reman Status: Full time, Duties & Tasks . Experience using standard measurement equipment (i.e., calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, etc.) Previous welding and fabricating experience is preferred. Ability to read engineering prints Dimensional inspection of each ET Units and Components to drawing specifications. Visual inspection of all welds. Witness FAT testing and sign travelers as needed Ensure travelers are filled out with heat numbers, weld IDs, and internal inspection has been signed prior to testing. The position requires working and communicating with multiple departments on a daily basis to help identify and solve problems on the shop floor. Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): Experience using standard measurement equipment (i.e., calipers, bore gauges, micrometers, etc.) Basic computer skills – familiarity with Outlook and Microsoft Office products. Effective communication skills and ability to work with interdepartmental teams. The position requires working and communicating with multiple departments daily to help identify and solve problems on the shop floor. Previous welding and fabricating experience. Ability to read engineering prints. Requirements: Dimensional inspection of each vessel to drawing specifications. Visual inspection of all welds. Check for pinholes, cracks, undercuts, lack of weld, weld sizes etc. Perform internal weld inspections where required per ASME code. Verify nameplate data and apply nameplates. Stamp vessel nameplates. Fill out final inspection forms prior to testing. Complete customer specific inspection sheets where required. Ensure travelers are filled out with heat numbers, weld IDs, and internal inspection has been signed prior to testing. Witness FAT testing and sign travelers as needed. Make sure all travelers and inspection sheets are prepared and ready so that data reports can be made. Witness and ensure assembly of ET Units, such as valves, cap, plugs, insulation, etc. are installed per drawing specifications. Verify and inspect final packaging of vessels. Ensure ET Units are on correct pallets, with necessary accessories or hardware. Ensure ET Units are strapped and secured appropriately to pallets prior to shipment. Perform quality inspection on incoming components and other necessary purchased components. Inspect components to tolerances defined by the engineering drawing. support other quality departments when needed and any other task given by quality management. Work Environment: This job is performed in a professional Work floor/Shopfloor environment. It also requires time on the shop floor with welding, assembly, and material technicians. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk on the shop floor. Occasionally may be required to drive and operate a fork truck.
